		<description>I understand the ones not pulled from a hat could still be used provided people self-organized around them (in the hall?) 

But I don't know if that would have registered with the participants, since it would be new to the way we do things (if not new to people in other pursuits.)</description>

I was surprised that in the Open Space sessions we generated topics and then 12 were picked out of a hat to "move on" to the next step in the process.  Many people I spoke with thought a random selection was counter to the process. What if the best idea, the innovation we need, didn't get pulled from the hat? 

Note that this has already morphed into a pseudo  open space process...</description>
