Looked through the congregations marked “emerging” at UUA.org yesterday and noted a couple of newcomers since May 2011, the last time I made such a review. Note: some emerging congregations may have gone defunt, but I haven’t looked for these. And it can be hard to tell as directory listings can last longer than the congregations lived.

I’ve included websites where known.

Marshalltown is interesting. I believe the town has a defunct Universalist church building, owned by the public park system (maintained as a local history museum).

Tree of Life Congregation is being sponsored for UUA membership by the First Universalist Church of New Madison, OH. Some of Tree of Life’s core start-up members lived on Dayton’s north-side, had been visiting New Madison, and decided against the lengthy drive into the rural coutryside.

There is a new UU congregation in Kinston, NC (there was an Universalist Church in Kinston up to the 1970s or so).
